Bill Heersink, for the past forty five years, has lived in Utah as a pastor at Family in Christ Church and a professor at Salt Lake Theological Seminary.
Bill received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees from Calvin College and Seminary in Michigan. Later he completed a Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary in California.
He grew up in Colorado and married a daughter from the closest neighboring family who happened to be born on one of his first birthdays. Bill and Claire are now the parents of three daughters and grandparents of two boys and one girl.
Reflecting his youth on a farm, Bill’s foremost hobby has been gardening, with the daylily flower as a specialty. And for seventy years now, he has been an ardent Red Sox fan.
“I came to know and admire Bill Heersink in a formal theological dialogue between Evangelical Christians and Latter-day Saints.
Through the years of dialogue, Bill has emphasized the importance of practical theology, ‘lived religion.’”
Robert L. Millet, Former Dean of Religious Education at Brigham Young University
“Bill has brought all of that experience to the writing of a book that expresses a pastor’s heart, a love of Mormon neighbors, theological savvy, and a Christ-centered spirituality.”
Richard J. Mouw, Former President of Fuller Theological Seminary
